Victims of Clergy Abuse Slam Cardinal O'Malley; Say His List of Abusers Omits at Least 91 Priests

Victims of clergy sexual abuse and their attorney slammed Cardinal Sean O'Malley of the Boston Archdiocese today (August 26, 2011) for omitting the names of their abusers from a new list of 159 priests and deacons publicly accused of molestation, according to the Boston Herald website.

Attorney Mitchell Garabedian -- who served as the lawyer for scores of victims -- called the list released yesterday on bostoncatholic.org an "inadequate attempt to satisfy a moral imperative" because it doesn't include the names of 91 priests who are now dead or who were members of a religious order.

Leaders of BishopAccountability.org -- an organization that tracks accused priests and posts court records from clergy abuse lawsuits online -- said: "There are many victims of Boston priests who will not find the names of their perpetrators on yesterday's list. Their misery and isolation will be deepened by yesterday's disclosure."
