Bachmann: Hurricane, Earthquake Are from God; God Wants US Govt. to Cut Its Wasteful Spending

The Huffington Post website reports today (August 29, 2011) that Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann told Floridians yesterday that Hurricane Irene -- as well as the earthquake felt along much of the East Coast last week -- were messages from God to warn politicians to start heeding divine guidance.

"I don't know how much God has to do to get the attention of the politicians. We've had an earthquake, we've had a hurricane. He said, 'Are you going to start listening to me here?'" Bachmann told a crowd of about 1,000 people in Sarasota.

"Listen to the American people, because the American people are roaring right now," Bachmann said. "They know government is on a morbid obesity diet and we've got to rein in the spending."

The main goal of Bachmann's comments is to link God's will with those who believe the U.S. government is too large, and intrudes too much on people's lives.
