NYC Megachurch Backs Hotel Maid's Rape Charge; Church Pastor Urges D.A. Vance to Push for a Trial

The Christian Post website reports today (August 1, 2011) that Nafissatou Diallo -- the Manhattan maid accusing former International Monetary Chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn of attempted rape inside his hotel room -- now has the support of the Christian Cultural Center, a megachurch.

Diallo -- a 32-year-old Guinean Muslim immigrant -- held a press conference at the church last week, and targeted the 62-year-old former IMF chief, as well as Manhattan district attorney Cyrus Vance, Jr., who is investigating the case.

Ken Thompson -- Diallo's lawyer and a member of the megachurch in eastern Brooklyn -- is believed to be behind the press conference. The church has over 30,000 members.

The Rev. A.R. Bernard -- the pastor of the non-denominational church -- showed support, saying, "I think, and hope, that he (Vance) is intelligent enough to understand what has been implied here."

Vance has been considering dropping Diallo's case, because investigators uncovered several lies by Diallo, thus damaging her credibility in a trial. Also, the New York Post website stands by its exclusive report that -- in addition to being a maid -- Diallo was a hooker at the hotel.
