Catholic Church in Tripoli Reports Break-in Today; Libyan Rebels Now Control Most of Libya's Capital

A Roman Catholic church in Tripoli -- the capital of Libya where heavy fighting continues to rage -- reported a break-in today (August 23, 2011), according to the Ecumenical News International website.

"My priest has told me that one of the Catholic churches in Tripoli had been broken into, but everyone is fine," said Bishop Bill Musk today.

There are Roman Catholic, Greek Orthodox, Anglican, and some Pentecostal churches in Libya that have been supporting each other, and have been in good fellowship, according to Bishop Musk.

Libyan rebels today took control of most of Tripoli -- including the compound of Libyan dictator Muammar Gadhafi. Gadhafi is believed to be hiding in Tripoli.
