A suicide bombing in the Afghan capital today (March 9, 2018) killed at least seven people who were attending a memorial for a prominent Hazara leader, according to The Defense Post website.
The bomber detonated an explosive device at a checkpoint outside the gathering in Kabul.
People inside were marking the 23rd anniversary of the death of Abdul Ali Mazari, a former leader of Afghanistan's mainly Shiite Hazara community, who was killed by the Taliban.
No one claimed responsibility for the attack, but the Islamic State (IS) has targeted Afghanistan's Shiite community in the past.
