Man Who Killed Wife Arrested after Confessing; Priest Notified Police,Wasn't Formal Confession

A Pennsylvania man was arrested after he confessed to a Catholic priest that he killed his wife, the NY Post website reports today (March 15, 2018).

John Grazioli, 44, went to St. Peter Cathedral in Erie, Penn. "crying and emotional" yesterday, asking to speak with a Roman Catholic priest, according to the Erie-Times News.

In the rectory office, Grazioli met with Rev. Michael Polinek and confessed to murdering his 31-year-old wife, Amanda, whom he married in September.

Under Roman Catholic law, priests are forbidden from contacting authorities about confessions. But Polinek made an exception to the Catholic law, saying that the admission wasn't during a "formal" confession, according to the Erie-Times News.
