The Associated Press website reports today (July 26, 2011) that the Vatican's envoy to the United States has been readmitted to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD with complications after recent lung surgery.
The U.S. Conference of Bishops and Apostolic Nunciature announced that Most Rev. Pietro Sambi has been placed on assisted ventilation.
It says he is suffering complications after undergoing delicate lung surgery two weeks ago.
Sambi is one of Pope Benedict XVI's first major appointments. He has served as the papal representative to the U.S. since 2006.
