A new British report -- released this week -- warns that the Church of England faces being eliminated as a significant national force, unless a serious campaign is undertaken to recruit more believers.
The report shows that the number of adult churchgoers has fallen by half in the last 40 years, while the number of children regularly worshiping in public declined by a whopping 80 percent.
Although some Church of England officials have taken the matter rather lightly -- claiming that the decline is simply due to the nature of modern society -- we believe that this is the wrong attitude to take, if this trend is going to be stabilized and even reversed. A more positive and aggressive attitude is essential to counter this decline, and increase the number of churchgoers.
The fact is that an effective modus operandi by Church of England clergy must be implemented -- and the sooner the better -- in order to attract church members. One way clergy may attract church members is by conducting weekly Christian seminars or dialogues, thus instilling in prospective churchgoers the depth of spiritual inspiration they are capable of acquiring from the Body of Christ.
