The Europe News website reports today (July 25, 2011) that the Greek government will finance reconstruction of building structures into mosques for the Muslim community in Athens.
Estimated to cost around 15 million euros, the existing plans for the first mosque will serve 500 faithful Muslims.
The building on the former Naval Base in Botanikos -- once it is renovated -- is slated to become an Islamic mosque.
The Steering Committee of the mosque consists of five Greek government officials and two Muslims from recognized associations in Athens.
