Paris' Seine River Is Flooding Parts of the City; Closes 7 Metro Stations, Lower Floor of Louvre

Following weeks of heavy rain in Paris, the Seine River continues to rise -- now putting its famous Louvre Museum in danger -- the ABC News website reports today (January 25, 2017).

The water level is expected to reach 20 feet by January 27, which is 13 feet higher than its normal height, according to the latest official weather bulletin.

The rise of the water level has caused seven metro stations alongside the river in Paris to close down. They will remain closed until January 31.

The flood is also affecting the Louvre Museum, located next to the Seine. France's most visited Museum -- home of the Mona Lisa -- has closed its lower level of the Department of Islamic Arts until January 28.
