New statistics released today (January 11, 2018) by Shin Bet security service show that the number of terror attacks in Israel and the West Bank tripled following U.S. President Donald Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital, according to the Times of Israel website.
On December 6, Trump made his announcement recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's capital, sparking raging riots by Arab Muslims, who want East Jerusalem to be the capital of a Palestinian state.
In the month of December, there were 249 terror attacks in the West Bank, Gaza Strip, and Israel, compared to 84 in November and 71 in October, according to Shin Bet's statistics.
The most serious of these were two stabbing attacks, one at the Jerusalem bus station in which a security guard was stabbed in the heart and seriously wounded, and the second near Ramallah where a man stabbed a Border Police officer in the shoulder, moderately injuring him.
