PM: France Faces New Form of Anti-Semitism; Includes More Violence, Attacks on Young Kids

France is facing a "new form of anti-Semitism" marked by violence, French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe said today (January 31, 2018), deploring an assault last week in a Paris suburb on an 8-year-old boy wearing a Jewish skullcap, according to the VOA News website.

The attack occurred in Sarcelles, a northern suburb with a large Jewish population. (Young Jewish children are often attacked and bullied in France today by Muslims.)

French media described the attackers as teenagers who ran away after tripping and kicking the boy to the ground. There have been no arrests.

Philippe noted the emergence of a new kind of anti-Semitism in France, which has the largest Jewish population in western Europe.
