President Tayyip Erdogan said today (January 28, 2018) that Turkey will "clean" its entire border with Syria, indicating that Turkey's current offensive on the Kurds in northern Syria's Afrin region will be extended further, according to the Reuters website.
Since Turkey's attack on Afrin began nine days ago, it has increased tensions between Ankara and Washington, which supports Kurdish troops.
Erdogan said Turkey might conduct operations eastward in Syria all the way to Iraq to clear the Kurds from its frontier.
More than a week into their offensive, however, Turkish troops have made little progress fighting into the hilly terrain against the U.S.-equipped and unrelenting Kurds.
