Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran's Expediency Council and former chief of Iran's Revolutionary Guard, said the Islamic Republic will "level Tel Aviv to the ground" if Israel carries out an attack, the United with Israel website reports today (February 20, 2018).
The senior Iranian official made the statement yesterday in response to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's speech at the Munich Security Conference the previous day, during which he warned that Israel will not hesitate to attack Iran if threatened.
Waving a piece of a captured Iranian drone, the Israeli leader addressed Foreign Minister Javad Zarif, saying, "Mr. Zarif, do you recognize this? You should. It's yours. You can take back with you a message to the tyrants of Tehran: Do not test Israel's resolve."
"Israel will not allow Iran's regime to put a noose around our neck," he asserted. "We will act if necessary, not just against Iran's proxies that are attacking us, but against Iran itself."
