Hungary's Prime Minister, Viktor Orban, has claimed "Christianity is Europe's last hope" in his annual state of the nation speech, the Express (British) website reports today (February 19, 2018).
Orban said the European Union (EU) risks being "overrun" by mass immigration and "Islamic expansion" before calling for a global alliance to what he portrayed as a growing threat to the West.
And he insisted Hungary would help lead a fight against globalism alongside Britain, the United States, and Israel.
Orban also claimed his government had "prevented the Islamic world from flooding us." He was responsible for Hungary erecting a double razor wire fence on its border in 2015 at the height of the migrant crisis in what became a symbol of the anti-migration sentiment in Europe.
