The Europe News website reports today (August 2, 2012) that a 23-year-old woman convicted of adultery in Sudan will be stoned to death, unless granted a last-minute appeal by authorities.
Laila Ibrahim Issa Jamool is being kept shackled to her 6-month-old baby, after being convicted by a court in the capital Khartoum on July 10.
Jamool's husband had accused her of "Zina" (adultery).
Under Islamic law (Sharia), a woman convicted of adultery is usually sentenced to death by stoning.
