A Southern Baptist college will soon be opening its doors in New England -- a region known for having some of the least religious communities in the United States -- the Christian Post website reports today (June 16, 2012).
Northeastern Baptist College (NEBC) -- located in a former Ramada Inn hotel building in Bennington, Vermont -- intends to begin training church planters in August 2013, with around 100 students for its first semester.
Mark Ballard -- president of NEBC -- said, "United States is an increasingly secular society, and this is certainly true of the Northeast. As part of the New England community our concern is for individual people."
Ballard explained that his college will not be a Southern Baptist college in the formal sense, but rather a Baptist college that has a business relationship with the SBC.
