The Prague Daily Monitor website reports today (June 15, 2012) that a majority of Czechs agree with abortion, euthanasia, and the death penalty, according to a new poll released yesterday.
Three in four people (72 percent) share the view that a woman alone has the right to decide on a possible abortion.
While 2 percent would make any abortion illegal, six percent would enable abortion if the mother's life were endangered, and 17 percent would allow it only with respect to the health and social conditions of the mother and child.
Two-thirds of the citizens believe that Czech legislation should make euthanasia possible and the same portion say they would like to reintroduce the death penalty. Twenty-seven percent are against legal euthanasia and the death penalty.
