Asians Now the Biggest Immigrant Group in US; About 430,000 Asians Moved to the US in 2010

The Daily Beast website reports today (June 19, 2012) that a new Pew Research Center survey shows that Asian immigrants -- not Hispanics -- are now the biggest immigrant group in the United States.

About 430,000 Asian immigrants made their way to the United States in 2010, making up 36 percent of the new immigrant population, compared to Hispanics' 31 percent.

Asian-Americans tend to vote for Democrats for public office.

Fifty-four percent of Asian American voters surveyed said they approve of President Obama's performance -- 10 percent more than he is getting from the general population today.
