The Big News Network website reports today (April 29, 2012) that pastor Terry Jones carried out his threat yesterday, by burning copies of the Koran and destroying a depiction of the prophet Mohammed outside his Gainesville, Florida church.
The Pentagon had asked Jones not to burn the Korans -- in order to protect American soldiers in Afghanistan and other Islamist areas -- but Jones ignored the request.
The burning of the Koran yesterday coincided with demands from Jones for Iran to release Christian pastor Youcef Nadarkhani from prison.
About 20 people attended yesterday's burning.
