Swiss Women Strike to End Gender Inequalities; Data Shows Women Earn 19.6% Less Than Men

Women across Switzerland went on strike today (June 14, 2019) to denounce slow progress on tackling the gender pay gap and inequalities, according to the Euro News website.

Data from the country's Federal Statistics Office shows that Swiss women earn 19.6 percent less than their male counterpart.

The International Labor Organization also found last month that Switzerland is near the bottom of the list when it comes to the wage gap between men and women in senior roles.

Only Italy, Kazakhstan, and Israel were deemed worse across Europe and Central Asia.
