An estimated 40,000 inmates in U.S. prisons are converting to Islam every year, the Clarion Project website reports today (June 3, 2019).
There are many examples where conversion to Islam in prison was part of a radicalization process.
Yet, in the U.S., inmates who convert to Islam have lower recidivism rates than average.
