Pope Francis has said he wants to make a change to The Lord's Prayer, widely known among the faithful as the "Our Father," the Fox News website reports today (December 7, 2017).
Specifically, the Catholic head said in an interview yesterday that he would prefer to adjust the phrase "lead us not into temptation," saying it strongly suggests that God leads people to sin.
The phrase "do not let us fall into temptation," which the Catholic Church in France has been using in recent years, would be a more appropriate alternative, Francis said.
He added that the phrase used in France -- or similar wording -- should be implemented around the globe. The Lord's Prayer originated from Jesus's language of Aramaic. It was then translated to Greek, and later to Latin.
