Israel Bombs an Iranian Military Base in Syria; Israel Won't Allow Iran's Mil.Presence in Syria

Israel's air force bombed a military target believed to be an Iranian military base outside Damascus, Syria yesterday, destroying an arms depot and killing 12 Iranians, the Clarion Project website reports today (December 3, 21017).

Iran is a strong ally of embattled Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, and has provided him with military and financial assistance during Syria's ongoing civil war.

Israel had warned Assad that it will not allow Iran to develop a military presence in Syria.

Iranian leaders have long threatened to "wipe Israel off the map."
