Jewish leaders today (December 22, 2012) demanded a Ukrainian politician take back an anti-Semitic slur he used against American actress Mila Kunis, 29, according to the Big News Network website.
A member of the Ukraine parliament posted a message on his Facebook page this week stating that Kunis -- who is an American Jew of Ukrainian ancestry -- was not truly a Ukrainian, and then referred to her by a derogatory Ukrainian term used by Nazi forces when rounding up victims for death camps during World War II.
The unprovoked attack against Kunis -- who starred in the relatively recent movie "The Black Swan" -- brought a sharp retort from Ukraine's Jewish community.
Kunis -- who emigrated to the United States from Ukraine at the age of 8 -- was named the "Sexiest Woman Alive" by Esquire magazine in its November 2012 issue, in which she poses naked.
The Simon Wiesenthal Center in Los Angeles sent a letter to Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov, saying Kunis' family fled Ukraine to escape anti-Semitism, and called on Azarov to condemn the statements publicly.
