A member of the Hungarian Parliament burned an Israeli flag in Budapest this past weekend during an anti-Israel protest outside the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Jewish Press website reports today (December 17, 2012).
Lenhardt Balazs -- the lawmaker -- is currently unaffiliated with a party, but he used to be a member of the far-right Jobbik (Movement for a Better Hungary) party.
The Jobbik party opposes any relationship between the Hungarian government and Israel. It holds 47 seats in the Hungarian Parliament.
The anti-Israel demonstration over the weekend -- attended by about 100 people -- had been called to protest Israeli "atrocities" against Arab Palestinians. Anti-Semitic slogans -- including "filthy Jews" and "to Auschwitz with all of you" -- were shouted during the demonstration.
