A federal judge has ruled against Tulsa, Oklahoma Police Captain Paul Fields and his lawsuit against the City of Tulsa, the Free Republic website reports today (December 14, 2012).
Fields sued the city after he was suspended for 80 hours without pay for refusing to attend -- or to order his officers to attend -- a law enforcement appreciation day event at a mosque.
Fields said that following the order would have violated his religious rights.
The judge said Fields did not have to attend, but had the responsibility to send his officers, so his religious rights were not violated. The judge added that Fields did not have to take part in any religious (Islamic) aspect that might have occurred at the event.
