The Jewish Telegraphic Agency website reports today (December 1, 2011) that President Obama said his administration has done more than any other has ever done to help Israel.
"This administration has done more for the State of Israel than any previous administration," Obama said yesterday during a campaign fundraiser at the New York home of Jack Rosen, chairman of the American Jewish Congress.
"We don't compromise when it comes to Israel's security," the U.S. President said. He referred to Israel as "the most important ally of the United States."
Obama -- who is running for re-election of the U.S. presidency in 2012 -- has lost the former support he had of many Jews, because of his opposition to Israel's settlement-building in the West Bank, and his call earlier this year for Israel to return (with some land swaps) the land it conquered from the Palestinians in the 1967 Mideast war.
