The Irish Central website reports today (December 11, 2011) that the Archbishop of Dublin is telling lapsed Catholics to leave the church.
As rising numbers of Catholics only show up at church for sacraments -- such as baptism and marriage -- Archbishop Diarmuid Martin is urging non-believers to have the maturity to walk away.
In the new documentary, "Would You Believe," priests reveal they will expect a firmer commitment from church-goers.
The church believes that "cafeteria Catholics" -- that is, those who pick and choose which Catholic rituals they will follow -- are not religious enough, and the church will be getting stricter with requirements for parents who want their children baptized Catholic.

It will be interesting to see what they ultimately decide on as criteria for what a commitment is.
