New Study: MTV Shows Often Demean Women; Women Degrade Themselves, Other Females

The Christian Broadcast Network website reports today (December 10, 2011) that -- according to a recent study by the Parents Television Council (PTC) -- MTV network constantly demeans women in its programming.

PTC researchers said only 24 percent of what the women on many of these shows said about themselves was positive.

Tim Winter -- president of PTC -- said, "Compared to men, women were far more degrading to themselves and other females."

The MTV series "Jersey Shore" accounted for most of the degrading comments on women. Ironically, this series is produced by a woman.
