A UN investigation report -- released today (November 28, 2011) -- accused Syrian forces of killing and torturing children, and other crimes against humanity since last March, the Associated Press website reports.
The report by a UN Human Rights Council -- released in Geneva, Switzerland -- found that at least 256 children were killed by government forces between mid-March and early November, with some of them tortured to death.
The full list of alleged crimes committed by Syrian forces included "murder, torture, rape, and other forms of sexual violence," said panel chairman Paulo Sergio Pinheiro, a Brazilian professor.
More than 3,500 Syrians have been killed by Syrian forces since last March, when thousands of Syrians began protesting for ending the regime of President Bashar al-Assad and his dictatorship.
