The Jerusalem Post website reports today that an Islamic fundamentalist group in the Gaza Strip on April 11, 2010 threatened to "slaughter" Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas for "collaboration with the Jews."
The commander of the group Jaish al-Umma (Army of the Nation) said, "If it is proven that Abbu Mazen (Abbas) is helping Jews, we will slit his throat."
The commander, Abu Abdallah Ghazzi, said that his group was also planning to launch an attack on Israel from southern Lebanon.
Jaish al-Umma is just one of several Islamic fundamentalist groups that have emerged in the Gaza Strip in recent years. The groups are believed to be inspired by al-Qaida.
