COMMENTARY: Current Path of The Episcopal Church Can Only Lead to Its Demise

The current path of The Episcopal Church (TEC) -- the branch of the Anglican Church in the United States -- can only lead to its demise.

TEC has approved the consecration of Canon Mary Glasspool -- a partnered lesbian -- as a bishop suffragan in the Diocese of Los Angeles in a ceremony that will take place next month (May 2010). She will become the second openly gay bishop in TEC. The first, Gene Robinson, was elected bishop of the Diocese of New Hampshire in 2003.

The Episcopal Church has made other liberal changes, in order to be more "relevant" and "cool" in today's society. These changes have had a negative -- rather than positive -- impact on TEC. For example, thousands of Episcopal Church members have broken away from TEC and have established more conservative Anglican churches.

The fact is that the liberal changes made by TEC -- including the approval of women priests and gay bishops -- are in direct contradiction to the teachings of Christ and the Holy Scripture.

While the sacrilegious changes recently implemented by TEC have pierced the Body of Christ, His Body will be completely healed, but the Episcopal Church -- in its current path -- is doomed to oblivion.
