The Taliban claimed responsibility for an attack at Kabul International Airport today (September 27, 2017) targeting the plane of U.S. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis, who was making an unscheduled visit to Afghanistan, according to the Daily Caller website.
Mattis had left the airport by the time the attack started, and no casualties have been reported.
The airport said two missiles were fired toward the airport at around 11:00 a.m. local time.
Two unidentified Taliban commanders claimed informers in Afghanistan's security apparatus tipped them off to Mattis's unannounced visit.
