As board chairman of the Northeastern University Hillel, Sheldon Goldman is witnessing what he terms an administrative "inquisition" by Hillel International against his chapter, programs, and staff, the Jewish Press website reports today (September 17, 2017).
Northeastern relations with Hillel International began deteriorating, says Goldman, after Northeastern's Hillel Israel Fellow, who was slated to receive a prestigious award at the Hillel International General Assembly held in Orlando, Florida in December 2016, saw the honor mysteriously withdrawn.
Goldman's replacement of the Israel Fellow with a well-qualified individual was not approved by Hillel International, and without a valid reason.
The nearly year-long conflagration conflict between Hillel International and its Northeastern University chapter continues today, with no sign of a rapprochement.
