Hungary's prime minister said his country will not change its stance on immigration, the Euro News website reports today (September 10, 2017).
Viktor Orban's comments come after the top court of the European Union (EU) dismissed a challenge by Hungary and Slovakia last week against migrant quotas. The EU could fine Hungary heavily -- and take other punitive action against it -- if it fails to abide by the court ruling.
"This court ruling is no reason to change our policy which rejects migration," Orban said.
He added that creating a link between immigration and EU cohesion funding was against EU's rules, and was "immoral."
