Being viewed as a coldhearted person by millions of Americans for his lack of brotherly love and empathy required of a pastor in a crisis, Houston's famous megachurch pastor Joel Osteen kept the doors of his church closed during Hurricane Harvey because he was never asked by the city to open its doors, the AOL website reports today (September 1, 2017).
At first, Osteen used the excuse that his 16,500-seat church was closed due to "safety issues" caused by the flooding.
Osteen's excuses for failing to open his church have been rejected by millions of Americans, in view of the fact that scores of other places -- including Islamic mosques -- took immediate action to open their buildings to flood victims.
Osteen did open his church to flood victims three days after Hurricane Harvey began to strike Houston, but most Americans feel that decision was "too little, too late," and now lack the respect they once had for the megachurch pastor.
