"I have come to proclaim Christ to undertake a journey of peace and reconciliation in His name," Pope Francis said today (September 7, 2017) in a powerful keynote speech to Colombia's 130 bishops, according to the America Magazine website.
The pope knows that the bishops are divided over Colombia's peace process.
He appealed to them to be united so that the church in Colombia can throw its full weight behind peace-building and creating a culture that promotes reconciliation.
He added, "Many people can help with the challenges facing this nation, but your mission is unique. You are not mechanics or politicians but pastors. Christ is the word of reconciliation written on your hearts."
