The Slate website reports today (July 18, 2012) that the average Canadian household is about $40,000 wealthier than the average household in the United States.
Over the past five years, the net worth of the average Canadian has crept up -- thus overtaking the average American's wealth for the first time.
The figures -- from Environics Analytics WealthScapes -- place the net value of the typical Canadian household at $363,202 versus $319,970 for the American household.
Canadians also own about twice as much real estate as Americans, and have fewer mortgages, as well as a lower unemployment rate.
