Upstate NY Mikva Const. Site Hit with Swastikas; Vandalism Occurred in Bloomingburg in Catskills

A Jewish religious immersion pool under construction in a new ultra-Orthodox neighborhood of an upstate New York village was vandalized this week with graffiti and swastikas, the Times of Israel website reports today (June 29, 2017).

The vandalism at a mikvah in Bloomingburg, in the Catskills area, was discovered on June 25.

The new Satmar neighborhood was built to solve a housing shortage in the ultra-Orthodox community.

The local sheriff's office has opened an investigation into the anti-Semitic hate crime.
