A car bomb explosion in the southern Afghan province of Helmand today (June 22, 2017) left dozens of people dead and several others wounded, according to the Euro News website.
The device went off outside a bank in Lashkar Gah where civilians and members of the security forces were waiting to collect their pay.
There has been no claim for responsibility but insurgent groups -- including the Taliban -- have in the past targeted banks where police, soldiers, and other government employees pick up their wages.
It's the latest in a series of recent attacks in the nation, illustrating a steadily worsening security situation across Afghanistan.
