Gunmen riding a motorcycle killed three policemen at a checkpoint in southwest Pakistan today (June 11, 2017) before fleeing the scene, in an attack claimed by a local affiliate of the Islamic State (IS) group, according to the AFP (Agence France-Presse) website.
The incident occurred in the Pakistani city of Quetta.
Quetta is the capital of Pakistan's mineral-rich Balochistan province, which borders Iran and Afghanistan.
Pakistan has been battling Islamist insurgencies in the province since 2004, with hundreds of soldiers and militants killed in the fighting.
