ISIS Supporter Kills 50 in Fla.Nightclub Attack; Worst Terror Attack in US Since 9/11/01 Attack

An American-born Muslim man who had pledged allegiance to ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) gunned down 50 people at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida early today (June 12, 2016) -- the deadliest mass shooting in United States history and the nation's worst terror attack since 9/11/2001 -- according to the CNN website.

The gunman was Omar Mateen, 29, of Fort Pierce, Florida, whose Muslim parents had moved to the U.S. from Afghanistan.

Mateen called 911 around the time of the attack to pledge allegiance to ISIS, which has now claimed responsibility for the attack.

Mateen carried an assault rifle and a pistol into the packed Pulse club shortly before 2 a.m. and started shooting, killing 50 people and wounding at least 53 others, police said. After a standoff of about three hours, police crashed into the building with an armored vehicle and killed Mateen.
