Nineteen Yazidi women -- who refused to have sex with their ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) captors -- were placed in iron cages and burned alive in Mosul, Iraq last weekend, the Newsmax website reports today (June 7, 2016).
"The 19 girls were burned to death, while hundreds of people were watching," one unnamed witness told the ARA (Mideast) News.
"Nobody could do anything to save them from the brutal punishment."
Officials of the Kurdistan Regional Government charge that ISIS fighters in Iraq and Syria continue to hold about 1,800 abducted Yazidi women and girls, ARA News reports. The ISIS jihadists captured the women as sex slaves after overtaking a northern Iraqi region in August 2014.
