Three suspected Islamic State (IS) suicide bombers targeted the international terminal of Istanbul's Ataturk airport today (June 28, 2016), killing at least 36 people and wounding over 100 others, according to the Chicago Tribune website.
Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said 36 were dead and Justice Minister Bekir Bozdag said 147 were wounded. Turkey has suffered many suicide bombings in recent months linked to Kurdish or IS group militants, as a result of Turkey angering both groups during the past year.
Yildirim said three suicide bombers were responsible for the attack and all initial indications suggest the Islamic State group was behind it.
He added the attackers arrived at the airport in a taxi and blew themselves up after opening fire.
