The Christian Broadcast Network website reports today (March 23, 2012) that -- according to the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan's (HRCP) annual report -- more than 900 women died last year in so-called "honor killings" in predominantly Islamic Pakistan.
The HRCP reported 93 minors and seven Christians among those who were murdered.
"Women were sometimes killed in the name of 'honor' over property disputes and inheritance rights," the commission said.
Nearly 600 of the women killed were accused of having "illicit relations," and more than 200 were murdered for marrying without permission.
