Televangelist Pat Robertson has done it again -- put his foot in his mouth, that is.
This week, Robertson said on his nationally-broadcast TV program, "The 700 Club," that if Peyton Manning -- the new quarterback for the Denver Broncos -- suffered a recurrence of his neck injury, then "it would serve them (the Broncos) right."
Robertson also said that the Broncos treated quarterback Tim Tebow "shabbily" by trading him to the New York Jets and replacing him with Manning.
This is not the first time that Robertson has made some shocking and anti-Christian statements on his TV program.
In January 2010, Robertson -- a former Baptist minister -- said the devastating earthquake that destroyed much of Haiti was the result of Haiti being "cursed" by "a pact with the devil."
In September 2011, Robertson told TV viewers that divorcing a spouse with Alzheimer's disease is "justifiable."
Early this month, Robertson said that the tornadoes that destroyed parts of America's Midwest would have ceased much sooner than they did, if more people prayed to God to stop them from continuing.
The conclusions that Robertson makes on all of these situations are indeed very bizarre. In fact, his conclusions appear to be anti-Christian.
Consequently, it is our sincere belief that Robertson -- who turned 82 this week -- is being affected by senile dementia.
We believe that senility is affecting Robertson's views, because his views -- those of a Baptist minister, no less -- tend to be anti-Christian. For example, Christ -- in His love of mankind -- would not want Peyton Manning to be seriously injured, because "it would serve the Broncos right."
In the final analysis, then, Christians can no longer respect the views and conclusions conveyed by Pat Robertson that they had respected so heartily in bygone days.
