The One News Now website reports today (March 5, 2012) that -- due to mounting pressure from "pro-gay" activists -- the student government at the largest university in Boston has voted down a proposal to bring a Chick-fil-A franchise on campus.
Under an onslaught of hostile criticism from Northeastern University students and faculty, the Student Government Association voted 31-5 not to allow Chick-fil-A to become a campus vendor in a food court that is being renovated.
Among the critics -- that claimed the company discriminates against homosexuals -- was Northeastern's LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) advocacy group called NU Pride.
Also denouncing the plan was Northeastern's Graduate Student Government, which issued a statement against Chick-fil-A saying, "It contradicts Northeastern's values and standards with respect to diversity and the University's commitment to its LGBT community."
