The Reuters website reports that French police today (March 25, 2012) are holding the brother of an al Qaeda-inspired gunman in detention on suspicion that he was complicit in Mohamed Merah's killing of seven people, including a rabbi and three children at a Jewish school in Toulouse.
The Paris public prosecutor's office said it has enough evidence to justify detaining Abdelkader Merah while he was being investigated on multiple counts.
With gunman Mohamed Merah shot dead by police on March 22 after a siege at his home, the focus of the investigation has shifted to his elder brother -- already known as a terrorist to security services for helping smuggle Jihadist militants into Iraq in 2007.
Abdelkader, 29, was arrested on March 21, as elite police commandos surrounded the Toulouse apartment of his brother Mohamed.
