Tennessee Students Keep Up Prayer Despite Ban; FFRF Says Prayer at School Functions Is Illegal

The Christian Post website reports today that Tennessee athletes, students, and community members have been rallying together in prayer, despite the efforts of Freedom from Religion Foundation (FFRF) and the Hamilton County superintendent to shut down prayer before football games and during graduation.

Soddy Daisy High School students and a crowd of community members met in Veterans Park yesterday (October 27, 2010) to pray about recent orders to eliminate prayer at school functions.

Hamilton County Superintendent Jim Scales informed all county principals that prayer at school events was unconstitutional after receiving a letter from FFRF denouncing loudspeaker prayers at school events.

According to local reports, it was a student group that led the prayer effort yesterday. They plan to lead prayers again on Friday on the football field.
